About Me
Counselling
I am a friendly, qualified and experienced counsellor with a genuine interest in understanding and helping people. I worked as a counsellor for staff in a business environment for 10 years, as well as volunteering for a local community based counselling service. Since completing my formal training in 2015, I've worked in the NHS, in a community based agency and currently in private practice, seeing people from all types of backgrounds with a huge spectrum of issues. I'm especially interested in women's' issues, with a focussed interest on the dynamic between culture and self care - namely the mental health impact of the sociological and cultural expectations placed on women.

Supervision
I am a qualified supervisor, providing supportive integrative supervision for both qualified and trainee counsellors. I specialise in providing formative and developmental supervision to new and trainee counsellors. As a former Clinical Team Leader, managing and providing clinical support to a team of 50+ counsellors, I developed the skills and knowledge to support counsellors at the beginning of their careers, helping them to become reflective, knowledgeable and grounded counsellors.

My Approach
There are many different types of counselling, some of which you can find out about here.
I’m an integrative counsellor – that means that I use all my skills and knowledge of all the different approaches to come up with an approach that is tailor made for you.
I have experience is helping people with a whole range of issues – depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, anger issues, stress, bereavement, relationship breakdown, living with illness and chronic pain, childhood abuse and neglect, to name but a few.
I believe that given a non-judgemental space, time and some gentle encouragement, we can work together to get to the root of your problems. I believe that you hold the key to living your best life and it’s my job as a counsellor to help you unlock your positive potential.
I never tell clients what to do or force them to talk about things they don’t want to, but I do encourage clients to be as open and honest as they can – and I will do the same, offering insight and perspective and a safe space to talk. In my experience, the more open an honest we can be, the more you will gain from counselling. It can feel daunting to talk about things you’ve never spoken about before, but remember – you’re not alone. I’m right there with you.
